If you’ve walked down Superior Street recently, you may have noticed some ongoing changes to one particular alley. The walkway between Anna’s House of Flowers and the Secretary of State building is getting a colorful makeover. With the addition of hanging lights and floral decor, the alleyway has already begun to look much more inviting. Now, the ongoing painting of a dazzling, large-scale mural is turning the passageway into a celebration of culture and color.

Painted by artist Michael Dixon, the mural represents the latest youth trip to Albion’s sister cities of Noisy-le-Roi and Bailly, France. The mural blends images from Albion with landmarks from its French sister cities — including Noisy City Hall, Bailly City Hall, the Porte de Gondi in Noisy, and the Gates of Versailles.
The project is supported by funds from Albion Area Philanthropic Women and the Albion Arts Commission. The mural is expected to be finished before the Festival of the Forks, where it will be dedicated on September 19th at 5:30pm. All community members are invited to celebrate!
