The Albion College Department of Music is hosting a Schubertiade, Friday September 12th at 7:30 p.m. at Goodrich Chapel. A Schubertiade is an event celebrating the music of Austrian composer Franz Schubert.

The tradition began during Schubert’s lifetime where circles of his friends created private events so they could hear his music. Despite his short life, Schubert (1797–1828), created a vast output of music, particularly his over 600 lieder, or songs.

The program Friday includes Du Bist Die Ruh, Quarttetsatz in C Minor, and Quintet in C Major. Ji Hyn Kim and Jaclyn Burke will be playing Violin, Jinhyun Kim and David Peshlakai cello, and Darren Chan viola.
