Albion’s World Fest to Feature Italian Ensemble ‘Alla Boara’

Alla Boara, a six-person musical group, will visit Albion for World Fest, offering free workshops on September 15 and 18, culminating in a concert at the Bohm on September 20 with a $5 admission. Their modern jazz interpretations of Italian folk songs have garnered praise from notable critics and musicians.

A number of Albion organizations are sponsoring a World Fest community visit by Alla Boara, a six person musical group that brings a modern jazz touch to regional Italian folk songs.

On Monday, September 15th they will offer a free workshop from 3pm to 4pm at the Forks Senior Center. On Thursday, September 18th there is a free workshop from 11am to 11:45am at Kids ‘N’ Stuff Children’s Museum, and in the evening from 6:30 to 7:30pm there will be a free workshop and wine tasting at Stirling Books and Brew on Superior Street.

On Saturday, September 20th at 3pm the musicians will give a final concert at the Bohm. There is a $5 admission charge for the concert.

Becca Stevens, GRAMMY-nominated singer/songwriter praised Alla Boara for “breathing new possibilities into timeless stories while weaving in limitless and unexpected musical flavors”, and the ensemble’s debut recording “Le Tre Sorelle” was praised by Cleveland Magazine for its “top-notch musicianship.” The band has received critical acclaim from NPR’s “Shuffle,” SWR2 in Germany, All About Jazz, and Jazz Weekly. They recently released their second full length album entitled Work & Song.
