The Albion College Theatre Department is opening its 2025–26 season with a story that blends friendship, art, love, and the quiet weight of loss. Their first production, Annie Baker’s The Aliens, invites audiences into the hidden corners of a Vermont coffee shop, where two disaffected young men spend their afternoons trading stories about music, poetry, and the wisdom of Charles Bukowski.
When a timid high schooler stumbles into their world, the pair take him under their wing—offering lessons that are equal parts profound, messy, and unexpectedly tender. Known for its subtle humor and raw humanity, Baker’s play has been celebrated as one of the defining works of contemporary American theatre.

This Albion production is directed by senior Theatre major Seph Cartier, whose vision brings fresh life to the Black Box stage. The show is performed in Herrick Theatre, Black Box 502, with only three performances remaining:
- Friday, September 26th – 7:30pm
- Followed by a post-show discussion with cast & crew
- Saturday, September 27th – 2:00pm
- Sunday, September 28th – 2:00pm
With limited showings left, now is the time to experience a story that captures both the restlessness of youth and the beauty of unlikely connections.
