Local DAR Chapter Plans 120th Anniversary Celebration

The Hannah Tracy Grant chapter of DAR celebrates its 120th anniversary on October 18th at Albion District Library with a program featuring American Legion colors, speeches, historical re-enactment, awards for local health professionals, and cake.

The Hannah Tracy Grant chapter of The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is celebrating their 120th anniversary Saturday, October 18th at 1p.m. in the Albion District Library, Naomi Lane Room. The Albion District Library is located at 501 South Superior Street, and the Naomi Lane Room is on the second floor. The library has an elevator. All are invited.

The Concord-Pulaski Memorial American Legion and Auxiliary Post #81 will be posting the colors to begin the program followed by an opening prayer, recitation of The Pledge of Allegiance and The American’s Creed, and a singing of the Star-Spangled Banner.

The program will include a welcome by Regent Kathy Norton, remarks by State Regent Dawn Brady, and an historical re-enactment of Grace Lincoln Hall Brosseau, a former President General of the DAR during the 1920s, by Bobby Mathis. Regent Norton will award three Albion health professionals DAR certificates of appreciation for service to the community. The awardees are Amy Howell, FNP-C, Dr. Miranda Makulski, DO, and Dr. Carrie Nichols, MD. A closing benediction will end the program, and cake will be served afterwards.

The Daughters of the American Revolution was founded nationally in 1890 to promote historic preservation, education and patriotism across the United States. The Albion chapter was formed in 1905. Over the years more than one million women have been members.

The DAR Genealogical Research System (GRS) includes free online databases containing information on Revolutionary War Patriots and their descendants, as well as a vast array of genealogical resources contained in the DAR Library.
