Movie lovers looking for something beyond the usual blockbuster lineup can find it at the Bohm Film Club which offers private screenings of classic, independent, and international films at Albion’s historic Bohm Theatre.
Meeting approximately every other Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. in the intimate Bohm II theater, the club provides an opportunity for film enthusiasts to experience movies they won’t find in mainstream theaters — from award-winning dramas to overlooked gems and cult favorites.

Each film is selected and introduced by a club member, who offers background on the film’s writer, director, cast, and cultural significance, along with behind-the-scenes stories and trivia. This personal touch helps make each showing both entertaining and educational.
Membership is open to the public. For $50, participants receive a punch card good for five film viewings, each including a complimentary drink and popcorn. Cards can be purchased at the door on the night of any film.
Curious newcomers are welcome to attend a screening or reach out for more information. Those interested can contact Mark Lelle at lelle.mark@gmail.com to learn more about upcoming selections or to join the club.

The Bohm’s Comeback
Efforts to restore Bohm Theatre gained momentum in 2010 when the Albion Community Foundation and Albion Downtown Development Authority formed Friends of the Bohm Theatre, a nonprofit dedicated to reviving the historic venue. With strong community backing and coordinated fundraising, the group launched a full restoration in 2011.

The Bohm reopened ahead of schedule in October 2014, quickly becoming a cultural and economic anchor in downtown Albion. In 2017, the theatre expanded its offerings with Bohm II, a 38-seat boutique screening room designed for intimate showings, discussion series, and private events. The expansion has helped broaden programming and strengthen the theatre’s role as a gathering space for the community.
The Bohm II Screening Room is available for private rental during non-public screening times. For additional rental information, check out the Bohm’s Rental Page, or reach out at 517-343-2112 or events@bohmtheatre.org.
