Kids ’N’ Stuff Children’s Museum is kicking off the winter season with an exciting lineup of hands-on programs, holiday-themed activities, and the debut of a brand-new exhibit that’s already becoming a visitor favorite.

“Chill Out!” — A Winter Exhibit for All Ages

This year, the museum’s December programming is centered around its new seasonal exhibit, Chill Out!, designed by KNS staff and fabricated with support from an exhibit design firm.
Focused on the magic of ice, snow, and winter wildlife, the exhibit includes:

  • A sock-skating rink
  • A snowball-throwing game
  • A ski-lodge themed reading nook
  • Winter animals — including a full-sized polar bear
  • And more interactive winter-themed fun

Chill Out! is designed for both family visits and school field trips, aligning with Next Generation Science Standards to support classroom learning. The exhibit will remain on display through May and is planned to return every winter.

Featured December Partner Programs

Kids ’N’ Stuff is hosting a variety of special events this month, including two standout collaborations:

Cookies & Canvas — Sunday, December 14:

In partnership with Jackson School of the Arts, children can enjoy a kid-friendly twist on the classic “paint and sip” experience — cookies included.

Frostology + Member Morning + Ugly Sweater Day — Saturday, December 20:

A packed day of activities includes:

  • Exclusive member hours with a hands-on craft: creating light-up LED holiday cards
  • A visit from the Michigan Science Center presenting Frostology, featuring liquid nitrogen demonstrations, indoor cloud-making, and even a liquid nitrogen rocket launch
  • Ugly Sweater Day — families wearing ugly holiday sweaters receive one free admission pass per household for a return visit

Christmas Break Programs

After the holiday, the museum shifts into its winter break workshops — a series of creative, hands-on activities perfect for families, babysitters, and educators looking for engaging daytime plans.
Activities include:

  • Making ice cream in a bag
  • DIY snow slime
  • Natural-material bird feeders
  • Designing your own wrapping paper

Tickets for all events are available now on the Kids ’N’ Stuff website, and advance purchase is strongly recommended due to expected demand.

Ring in the New Year — At Noon!

The museum closes out the year with its popular Noon Year’s Eve celebration on December 31. Families can enjoy activities throughout the museum, sparkling juice, noisemakers, and a countdown to a balloon drop at noon — perfect for younger children who won’t make it to midnight. Last year, nearly 200 families joined the celebration.

Kids ’N’ Stuff has packed this season with creativity, learning, and family-friendly fun — offering something for every age and schedule. Whether you’re planning a classroom field trip, a holiday outing, or a way to keep kids engaged during winter break, their December lineup is full of memorable experiences. Be sure to grab tickets early and make the most of the winter magic happening right in downtown Albion.
