Albion Area Lifelong Learners will launch its new academic year with its annual Fall Assembly this Thursday, September 11th at 10 a.m. in Wesley Chapel on the Albion College Campus. Guest speakers include Interim City Manager Doug Terry, Director of Public Services, Jason Kern, and Chief of Public Safety, Aaron Phipps.
They will discuss the City’s new Capital Improvement Plan, requirements for the Community Development Block Grant application, the status of city dam removal, street and water improvement projects, collaboration with the Michigan Historic Preservation Network, the Watson Street Housing Development, and other community topics. A specific focus from the Chief of Police will be on senior citizen fraud, which is becoming an increasing concern in the Albion area. The audience will have the opportunity to ask questions.
The assembly will be live streamed on youtube.com and can be viewed by searching Albion First United Methodist Church.
Participants can sign up for AALL October courses at the Fall Assembly. Courses include “Journey to Albion: Four Unique Stories of Coming to Albion” taught by Sarah Steinhauer, Dave and Sue Farley, Barb Lange and Bob Wall; “American Discontents” based on the book Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents taught by Judy Lockyer, Professor emerita, Albion College Department of English; “Outdoor Immersions” which will consist of weekly hikes led by Syd Dulaney; and the “Movies of Dame Judi Dench” taught by Richard Lewin.
